Chef Nak has opened her home on the Mekong River to give guests a truly unique experience. Just 30 minutes from the center of Phnom Penh Mahope is an oasis of culinary delight hidden in a jungle garden. Mahope combines ancient Khmer cooking styles with the performing arts in a traditional Khmer wooden stilt home.
Dine in Luxury
Mahope is set in a light and airy dining room on a large terrace in a traditional Khmer wooden stilt house on the banks of the Mekong River.
Guests are invited to enjoy the luxury pool with aperitifs as their meal is being prepared. Whilst enjoying the Mahope experience guests will have the opportunity to speak with Khmer people to learn more about their culture and way of life.

How do I get to Mahope and how do I get back to Phnom Penh?
Mahope is just 30mins north east of central Phnom Penh near Vearin Pagoda. The easiest way is to get here is by TukTuk. You can find Mahope on Google Maps and Facebook easily to help you arrive. We work with local drivers to get you home after your experience. Want to arrive by boat? Talk to us to arrange.
How long is the experience?
The entire experience lasts approximately 3.5 hours
The experience includes: spending time in a Cambodian home, use of the pool, interaction with traditional musicians, private musical performance, explanations of ingredients and Cambodian culinary art, 5 course menu, 3 cocktails, 1 welcome drink, tea/water
When should I tell you dietary requirements?
You must inform us of any dietary requirements at least 1 week before the experience. Regrettably we are unable to accommodate guests with nut allergies.
How is it different to a restaurant in Phnom Penh?
Mahope by Rotanak™ is not a restaurant. Guests are coming to Chef Nak’s actual home to experience the art of Cambodian living and cuisine. Guests will enjoy home cooked Khmer cuisine prepared with love just for them in an open home kitchen. You will interact with Chef Nak and learn about ingredients and cooking techniques unique to Khmer culture. Through partnership with Cambodian Living Arts you will also enjoy a private musical performance from some of Cambodia’s leading traditional musicians.
Who is running Mahope?
Mahope is the product of ‘Chef Nak’ founder and CEO of Rotanak™. The mission at Rotanak™ is to celebrate, develop and preserve the art of Cambodian (Khmer) cuisine in all its forms. Chef Nak is a passionate cook, an advocate of traditional Khmer recipes & ingredients, a food writer, an entrepreneur and a mother. Chef Nak developed the Mahope experience to share the very best of Cambodian dishes, flavours, and culinary heritage from the intimate setting of her home.
What does it look like?
Mahope is a traditional Khmer stilt home in the middle of a jungle garden. Guests eat on our open air terrace with musician playing softly nearby. There is a luxury pool that guests may use before their dining begins.
Will I get bitten by bugs?
You might! Mahope is in a beautifully lush jungle garden so there are of course some bugs. We provide all guests with non-chemical insect repellent throughout their time with us.
